Police in the town of Malegaon have recovered explosives from a yellow container placed in the Mohammadiya Madrassa shopping complex on Kidwai Road. A bomb disposal squad has been rushed to the site, and the surrounding area has been cordoned off.
“We have found a suspicious looking container with wires and battery attached to it. We are not sure if it is a bomb. The area has been cordoned off and if it is indeed a bomb, we’ll either defuse it or blast it at a safe place.
Meanwhile, Police have also recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunication in Raj Sarthi building in Nashik district. The arms recovered include 11 detonators, five gelatin sticks and one revolver.
Atleast 38 people were killed and over 180 injured on 8 September, when three bombs went off near the Hamidia Mosque during the Shab-e-Barat festival. Although the communally senstive town has so far been quiet, officials have once again declared an alert in Malegaon.
