One direct result of this would be more people like our very own Ujj 🙂
I love cross Indian weddings, besides the obvious – ‘What better way to foster national unity?’ – there is also, for me personally, an element of what happens next, how do their families get along etc… (
maybe it’s because I have always had non malayalee girlfriends, no wait…maybe not always…there was one…maybe two..).
Surya and Jyothika first came together in the film ‘Poovellam Kaettupaar‘. And since then, their on-screen chemistry became extremely popular. What followed was a string of hits like ‘Kakka Kakka‘, ‘Perazhagan‘ and ‘Mayavi‘ that gave them their due as a pair.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, Former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, State Ministers, political leaders, a galaxy of film stars and eminent personalities were among those who blessed the couple, who entered the wedlock after a long courtship (five years).
Surya, the son of veteran Tamil actor Sivakumar, tied the mangalsutra on Punjabi girl Jyothika (She is Nagma’s younger sister..if you know who Nagma is..). The marriage was conducted as per Tamil tradition. Jyothika was a pink silk saree and Surya was attired in white silk shirt and dhoti.
Ms Jayalalithaa, who attended the reception which was held an hour after the muhurat, blessed the pair and presented them with traditional kuthuvilakku (lamp).
They were dating for five years. Astrologers advised them at 9/11 6:45 AM is the best time to get married this year.
