Mommooty"Let's compete, let's make this a national award, not a national language award." That was Malayalam actor, Mammooty's message to IIFA as he came on stage with Shabana Azmi to present an award.

According to the sources within IIFA, the advisory board of the academy is working on a format in which can see actors and technicians compete for awards from work in different languages.

This was the first IIFA award. I enjoyed it, there were a few minor hick-ups but that just made the evening more interesting (very boring thank you speeches, missing envelops with winners names in them, the usual audio-video hassles etc..)

Next year IIFA goes to Yorkshire, Tony Blair appeared on the giant screen and welcomed everyone to the UK for IIFA 2007. It would be interesting to see if he stays on as the Prime Minister till then.
