I have no love for congress but feel sorry for it, because Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has professed Rahul Gandhi to be future of UP. With the recent controversies arising out of comments related to Babri Masjid, Pakistan dismemberment future of congress looks dimm until Priyanka takes up politics.
Rahul Gandhi looks like a family man. He always projects his family for all the good work sometimes even eclipsing congress party members and Ex-PM like Narsimha Rao.
Someone rightly said that Rahul is politically immature and i believe it is too late for him to become mature and run this country or atleast congress party.
The more he speaks, the more of Rahul’s stupidity comes out in public. It looks like, he needs to sit back and seriously think about his career.

Rahul needs to change his speech writer. If he keeps talking like this he could create a major diplomatic row if and when he is in power.

You can now imagine what it would have been like when you are ruled by monarchy and when young eight and nine year olds used to take control of the kingdom by virtue of their being the king’s offspring. You can see a steady decline in the quality of leadership in this modern dynasty in the order of nehru, indira, rajiv, sonia and now Rahul. I marvel at the die hard optimism of those who think Priyanka would be better- it is because she resembles indira physically?
April 19, 2007 at 9:38 pm
Revathi,
You are absolutely correct. I wonder, why congress keeps on begging Priyanka to come up and take the mantle.
Congress still belongs to old era and think that people vote based on personalities rather than their calibre. They still think that they can get away with the problems they are now compounded with, if a charismatic person takes the lead. I pity them and they are going to loose badly in UP.
Rahul is simply an idiot and knows nothing about polics. He didnot work hard at all to know India or in general the politics to even lead the campaign in UP.

An intellectual once said, “In politics, Family/Dynasty Charisma can win you votes but it doesnt guarantee good leardeship”.
Over the years, Congress has become a Bhai-Bhatija kind of party. In fact, almost all the major parties today follow the same culture. Only two exceptions, BJP & CPM. While left philosophy is getting obsolete, the only choice one can realastically think of is the BJP. It is always better to have a party at centre who can deliver rather than a self-confessed secular Organisation whose credentials have always been doubtful since the independence.

Rahul was “admitted” to Harvard courtesy of former US ambassador to India,John Dean who was then Harvard President Derek Bok’s friend. He lasted exactly a semester and a half before he flunked just about every paper including expository writing. His only contribution to the (English) paper was an Italian word. He is being “advised” on politics by a crook and a thug – Satish Sharma who made crores from petrol pump allotments and other deals.

I will be soo embarassed of being an Indian if Rahul Gandhi is crowned (or elected, either way its a mockery) the Prime Minister of India.
He is more suitable to run a pet shop or something.
April 19, 2008 at 1:12 pm
Priyanka has a hardcore catholic mother and a catholic husband. That can’t be beneficial for India as a civilizational entity since christians simply do not “get” India- that is, when they aren’t actively building churches atop tirupati or converting the heathens. Nehru family has done their utmost to destroy India, either deliberately or out of sheer incompetence. Priyanka won’t fall very far from the tree, IMO.
India needs real leaders like Sardar Patel or Vivekananda, not these damn nehruvian jokers. Nehru wanted to nationalize agriculture, but sardar patel threatened an absolute walkout.
January 17, 2011 at 3:32 pm
Patel was no better. He was the worst of the lot. His idiotic ways of not giving the home ministry to jinnah, led to partition. He is the head of idiots a traitor

I see only two things in the news about Rahul Gandhi,
One is whenever he does something stupid and immature and the other is when someone states that he is the future PM.
Congress knows it is nothing without a “Gandhi” at the top.
Democracy in India has become rotten.
December 20, 2009 at 12:57 pm
There is no good to hate the Congress It’s only your spite and jealousy. The party keeps winning time and again, while the so called right wing self destructs.
December 20, 2009 at 1:24 pm
Sonia Gandhi has exemplified what good leadership is. She did the work of campaigning, without arrogance or belittling anyone else and graciously stepped away from the throne. Why should she not hold power, the legitimate result of the people’s mandate time and again? And what does her being a Catholic have to do with anything? Why are you getting confused with the British Raj and her being Italian? Thirdly, according to Congress bashers, its main offence seems to be its dynastic rule. Is that any reason to bash them? If they’re doing a good job, why do you care what their surnames are? You are only displaying your spite and jealousy.
Fourthly, Catholics do not convert; if they did, the whole country would be Catholic by now seeing as how everyone is so desperate to get into their schools? Why don’t YOU uplift the masses? Why are people serving the poor and educating them ready to die for their beliefs? They have nothing to gain from doing this work except eternal life and glory. What else could their motive be? And secondly, it is the Protestants who may be aggressively evangelizing (get an education!) And even if they are, as you claim, it is lawful to propagate their religion. It is however, unconstitutional to desecrate and destroy their places of worship, rape and kill their people in Orissa, burn them alive all in the name of religion. It is also against the secular fabric of the nation to make anti-conversion laws. People can convert and propagate all they like as long as they are not harming anyone. Stop getting your delicate sentiments hurt every time someone doesn’t agree to one of your beliefs. Show the fruit of your piety instead by embracing all and working for peace.
December 20, 2009 at 8:47 pm
Lastly, why do we constantly brag about our wonderful Indian brains and culture? Is it at all bragworthy to drag girls out of pubs and stone them? Or to burn them along with their dead husbands? Or force them to pay staggering dowries? Or to practice an easy, relativistic morality? Or a lazy justice system which we can’t be bothered to revamp in 60 years even after the British left us theirs on a platter? Except to formulate something shockingly undemocratic and unsecular as anti-conversion laws? Or to chain people to a dehumanizing caste system, the most abhorred and loathsome system of organized injustice next to slavery, which by the way, the West overcame through a Civil War brought about by a Christian white man and appeal to Christian values? How did the developed nations get developed in the first place?? Not through borrowing technology and knowhow from others and bragging about it. Not through desperately trying to get a Green Card or that student via or a cushy life abroad. They developed because of their firm dedication to Catholic values of justice, peace and integrity and social values propagated by Christianity like social justice, education, democracy and respect for women. Christianity also eradicated many other pagan practices and superstitions, things India has yet to come out of. Examine this if you like in a wonderful book called ‘What’s so great about Christianity?’ by Dinesh D’Souza who used to work for the White House. And before you start pulling out offences by the British Raj, they did not represent Christ and neither do many people who profess Christ. Just as many people who profess any other religion do not manifest perfection. Christ came to give us grace, forgiveness and salvation because we are sinners and always will be in these mortal bodies. He has achieved for us what we cannot. And we are to achieve for Him through the Holy Spirit by serving others who are less fortunate and spread His Good News of Grace.
Another thing: Why does all India’s self-esteem seem to derive from long migrated people of Indian origin? What happens when notorious Indians’ corruption surfaces in the media? And all other hopes are pinned on the poor Indian cricketers, to soothe our badly wounded egos!
Think over this carefully before indulging in all this hate propaganda. I say this in all love and mildness.

@Rohini :
Sonia Gandhi, from what can be derived from the above comment exemplifies great leadership, character , vision and integrity.I ask but one thing where was this great leadership of hers , her great vision in N Liability deal or the CWG ? Has she or Rahul Gandhi spoken up on matters of substance ? which actually are of importance for the nation. The Congress in its 2nd innings is doing a terrible job of ‘ruling’ the country. Maosists, CWG,Kashmir, price rise — the govt is floundering on all these issues.
Kindly back up your statement about people prefering Catholic Schools with facts. As far as i an see DPS RK Puram is at the top in India. PSBB is at the top in South India along with Gitanjali School. Are these Catholic ?- No.
It is lawful to propagate your religion but it is not to propagate by false means , by offering money to the poor tribals in exchange for them converting to your religion. The Anti Conversion laws are meant to protect those people who are taken advantage of by these evangelical missions through donations which by the way comes from abroad, meaning it is not taxable- ie. it is black. but it is not illegal.
And, why do we brag about our brains ? Simply because we ARE smarter, our education system is good and even President Obama realizes that.
And our culture ? Because it shows our heritage which is 6000 year s old. We gave the world and proved laws of chemistry and physics which were rediscovered later by the Western Scientists. How can i say that ? Heisenberg’s Principle of Uncertainty, check it up. it’s quantum physics and is there in an ancient Indian book of about 2000 years ago.
In all that drivel about Hinduism – about how it is barbaric and uncouth etc etc you seem to display your ignorance – you have confused a social system with a religious system. The caste system is just that a social system. That would be like saying that in the US blacks were oppressed by whites who practiced slavery, so was the case in SA , in India, in so many other places around the world a few centuries ago. The oppressors were ALL Christians , so does that mean all Christians condone slavery and that Christianity does so ? Or to blame Christianity for Racism . And you forgot the Crusades ? The first ‘holy’ wars after the founding of Islam. You call tradition and culture long practiced pagan and something to be proud of ? Are you insane ?
And about the corruption et al – Are you telling me that the West isn’t corrupt ? Remember the West have had freedom for over 3 centuries and are like they are after 3 centuries of freedom(USA). India is a young country in comparison yet we aren’t behind them. That speaks volumes about our determination.
Yes India has problems, remember nobody is perfect. Nor are we, nor is the West.
